7. Bamboo 

This is the piece of fabric that creates a sheath or barrier between you and your pillow. Typically, a pillowcase has one opening on the short side of the fabric and extra fabric that will drape over a few inches, when placed over the pillow insert. The drape is sometimes generous and provides a decorative element to what is otherwise a largely functional piece.

When it comes to choosing the perfect bedsheets for your bed, there are a variety of options to consider, including bamboo, cotton, Tencel, and linen.  Each type of bedsheet has its own unique benefits, but a common concern many people have is choosing bedsheets that won’t pill.  Pilling occurs when small balls of fibers form on the surface of the fabric, resulting in a rough and uncomfortable texture.  To avoid this problem, it is important to consider the material and construction of the bedsheet.

Choose 200 thread count and above - anything less will wear badly, rip and develop holes! Be wary of really high thread counts over 800 which can produce very stiff sheets and duvet covers that are not very comfortable to sleep on and are really hard to iron! We picked 600 thread count for our Egyptian cotton bed linen.

From a practical standpoint folding and ironing flat sheets is fairly easy, however, fitted sheets are more difficult to fold neatly and iron because of the elasticated corners. Opt for modern lightweight polyester/cotton fabrics and your bed linen probably won't need ironing anyway!
